Meeting
The
June meeting of Cleng Peerson Lodge was called to order by Vice President Rich Gunderson at 2:00 P.M. on Sunday, June 24,
2007. The meeting opened with the singing of National Anthem, saying the Pledge
of Allegiance and the singing of the Norwegian Anthem.
Members were asked if any visitors or guest were present. Gordon Carlson
introduced himself, and too other woodcarvers, Bob and Karen Wills and Tim DeMoss as guests.
Karen
Wills’ birthday is today, so the members sang The Happy Birthday song.
Roll
Call was answered by 17 board members and the April 15, 2007 and May 20, 2007 business meeting minutes were read and approved
by first, Rich Gunderson and second, by
myself. The treasurer was not present at the meeting due to museum sitting and
her report will be tabled until next meeting.
Old
business: The food booth at the Riverfest Book Fair will be July 26th and
27th at 8:00 a.m. Orien has our permit to set-up tables for water,
coffee, canopy’s and baked goods which members need to bring. Members,
please put on your calendars, the 35th Anniversary Dinner which will be at The Pitstick’s Banquet Hall October
21, 2007.
Three
Thank you notes were read. One was from Cindy Olsen, Director of Sons of Norway,
Minneapolis, MN who received a contribution from us for the Foundation of Humanitarian Fund in memory of Marion Marshall,
second, the 2007 Barnebirkie Country Skiing for sending 60 dozen cookies and, lastly, for our $210 contribution for the Ski
for life Organization. The Elleby Family has informed us that Marion and Kermit
have moved to the Pleasant View Luther
Home. Any cards or letters we wish to send, the address is: 505 College Ave., Ottawa, IL. Registration for the Val Hall Golf Tournament must be done by Aug. 11. See Jerry
Johnson if interested.
New
Business: Dave Johnson has reported that the WEB Site for the Sons of Norway
is complete. www.clengpeersonlodge.com. Anyone who has changes, additions or
questions see him.
The signup sheet for museum sitting was passed around for members. Please
signup. The hours of operation are Saturday and Sunday’s 1:00 p.m.
through 5:00 p.m.
The
50/50 Drawing was held next and bulletins from other lodges were available for other members to view.
The
Woodcarver’s presentation was next followed by the prayer and the meeting adjourned.
