The regular meeting of Cleng Peerson Lodge of Sons of Norway
was called to order by President Jerry Johnson at 2 p.m. on April 15, 2007 in the Norway Community
Building. The song leader,
led the members in singing the U.S. and
Norwegian National Anthems and the pledge to the American flag.
Roll call was answered by 15 board members. The secretary report was
presented and approved. The treasurer’s report was presented and approved.
Under old business, there
was some discussion of the trip to Stroughton, Wisconsin
for Syttene Mai, Sunday. May 20, 2007. The bus will leave Value
City in Ottawa at 7:00 a.m., the Community
Building in Norway
at 7:30 a.m. and Yorkville at 8:00.
Florence
and Howard Eltrevog reported on their research into the design and cost of a plaque in memory of Marian Marshall, to be placed
in the Norsk Museum. The cost of the plaque will be about $100. It
was moved by Carol Johnson and seconded by Chloris Carlson that the lodge should go ahead with the project.
Under new business, Richard
Gunderson showed a certificate and pin which will be given to lodge members who recruit new members. He also announced any member who brings in new members can enter his/her name into a drawing for a trip
to Norway.
President Jerry Johnson read
a letter from CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates) seeking donations for their work for abused and neglected children
in court. The question of donating to the organization was tabled for later discussion.
Members were reminded of
the Annual Torsk Dinner sponsored by Polar Star Lodge of Aurora. The dinner will
be Saturday, April 28, 2007 at the Beecher Building
in Yorkville.
The May meeting will be the
bus trip to Stoughton, Wisconsin
on Sunday, May 20th. The June meeting will be Sunday, June 24th
at 2:00 p.m.
